What is Anxiety?

Portrait Of Girl Biting NailsAnxiety is a term used to describe feelings of nervousness, fear, or worry. Usually anxiety occurs in stressful situations, such as prior to, or during, public speaking. These situations can can provoke worried thoughts of a possible negative outcome, such as not being able to do a good enough job. Along with these thoughts and feelings, changes occur on a physical level and can include sensations of nausea, ‘butterflies’ in the stomach, muscle tension, increased heart rate and light headedness. These feelings are considered a natural response to stress and can arise across a range of situations, though these may not be situations others consider to be obviously stressful, such as reluctance to leave home. If persistent and a source of   considerable distress, they may form the basis of an anxiety disorder. [Read more…]

Parent Course

The next 1-2-3 Magic® & Emotion Coaching parent course –  to help parents and carers of 2 to 12 year old children learn new information and skills to make their parenting role easier and more enjoyable – is commencing at Q-Psych on 5 November 2015.

The program runs over three weeks (3 x 2hr sessions) on the following Thursday evenings:

  • 5 November, 6.30pm to 8.30pm
  • 12 November, 6.30pm to 8.30pm
  • 19 November, 6.30pm to 8.30pm
